YOUNG EUROPEANS PARTICIPATE IN A SEMINAR IN THE SUBJECT OF THE NATURE TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY

The seminar on the subject of the nature for the inclusion of the diversity. The twenty-one youth workers from seven European countries came to Tramonti to participate in the projectTogether, diverse, outdoora seminar in the open air on the themes of diversity and inclusion”. The project under the Erasmus+ Program was organized by the municipality of Tramonti with a help of ACARBIO association which has been involved in different international projects since 2009.

First part of the seminary took place in the ancient Convent of Saint Francis. The participants had a chance to build a real team. The Erasmus + Program spreads the principles of hospitality in a period where discrimination tends to increase: the seminar analyzed this subject from different angles. Mother Nature, by giving “educational tools” and the space in which all participants could get together, became a very important part of the deliberations.

PROGRAM

After the activities that took place inside the Convent, participants had a discussion on various topics (from the importance of understanding concepts such as diversity and inclusion, to how you can educate while being outdoors) and hitchhiked in the mountains. Then, the whole group, equipped with camping gear, moved to the open spaces of the Convent of Saint Nicholas. There, on an altitude over 500 m, divided in groups, they worked on the development of the new ways of non-formal learning that could be implemented in the open air.

It was also a great opportunity to see the less known side of the Amalfi Coast with its paths and rural areas that bring this land back to its origins, acquire competences on social and environmental subjects and non-formal education method. The project offered an important training and growth opportunity to some young people of Tramonti who participated actively. At the end, all the participants created “Manual on diversity and inclusion in nature in youth activities”.
