The Morigerati Rural Lab is our European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Volunteering Team in Morigerati, a village of about 300 people in southern Cilento, where the Bussento river disappears and resurfaces among the caves of the WWF Oasis. Since spring 2026 we have already hosted three volunteer flows — April, the Stories in Motion experience in June, the current summer flow — and the call for the next one — autumn 2026 — is now open (see the box above).
This is not a postcard experience: volunteers work alongside the WWF Oasis and Transluoghi Ecomuseum staff managing visitors, update tourism information, translate materials into several languages, start English courses for local teenagers and prepare workshops for children. All under the guidance of coordinator Angelika Bartholomäi, an expert in sustainable rural tourism.
Morigerati doesn’t just tolerate the project — it embraces it. The community hosted a free international aperitivo, the local bocce club invited volunteers to a tournament, a tourism operator opened up their own terrace. A welcome that, as participants say, people “carry home in their heart forever”.
